SARAH DEBENHAM

Principal teacher Miss Sarah Debenham founded Razzle Dazzle Dance Studio in 1999.  Straight out of year 12 at High School, it had always been her dream to open her very own dance studio.  Sarah began learning to dance at the age of four.  For 21 years she was involved in performing at various concerts, eisteddfods & football games, as well as the Disneyland Park in L.A & Movie World on the Gold Coast.

With all of that performing now behind her, Sarah's main focus is her studio & her students.  She has been teaching children to dance for the past 14 years, 10 of those years at her own studio.  During this time, she has passed on both her knowledge & love of dance, watching her own students blossom into promising young performers - there is nothing more rewarding than teaching children.  She was very excited when she was given the opportunity to take her students to perform at the Disneyland Park in L.A.  Only 5 years earlier, it had been Sarah performing on that stage - seeing her own students enjoying the same wonderful experience was a huge accomplishment.

Sarah began Razzle Dazzle in the Community Centre of Currans Hill.  After five years, the studio had expanded immensely, clearly too big for the community centre.  At the beginning of 2004, Razzle Dazzle moved into its very own premises, a fully equipped air-conditioned studio.  After only a little while at the new premises, Sarah wondered how the studio had ever managed to operate out of just a community centre.

At the beginning of 2009, it became clear to Sarah that Razzle Dazzle had once again outgrown its home.  A brand new factory unit, nearly twice the size of the previous unit, was turned into an even bigger, more amazing dance studio.

Sarah is excited to celebrate her studio's 10th Annual Concert in November.  She is also finding it hard to believe that Razzle Dazzle has been running for 10 years already!!  Sarah is extremely proud of all of her students & loves going to work to see them every day.

 TANIKA TURNER

Tanika has been dancing and singing since the tender age of 3. She is trained in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, contempary and Hip Hop. Tanika has performed in multiple talent quests, eisteddfods and all school musicals.  Tanika attended Campbelltown Performing Arts High school where she excelled in music and dance from year 7 through 12.  One of her proud moments being selected by the education department to perform her year 12 dance performance piece; which also granted her a band 6 in dance education and an award off the Campbelltown mayor congratulating her on her success.

She also was part of the NSW state dance company for several years where she performed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics right beside the tap dogs, performing several times for regional and state dance festivals as well as graduate performances at the esteemed Sydney Opera House.  Throughout Tanika's teenage years she was lucky enough to travel back and forth to the USA to dance at The Edge and Millennium dance centres in LA.  This is where she found her love for music and Hip Hop.  Tanika furthered her education by attending UWS to eventually graduate in nursing at the same time as teaching hip hop at Razzle dazzle dance studio, Vocalize and Plus Fitness Health Club.  The only thing was, she missed performing.

Tanika put her nursing degree on hold in 2007 and enrolled in a performing arts graduate degree at the prestigious ED5 International under the likes of William Foresight.  This course enabled Tanika to excel in all styles of dance, singing and drama.  In late 2007 Tanika was spotted on MySpace by a production/management company by the name of Kountryboyz entertainment, which eventually lead her to fly over to the US to record an album with Thomas Goodin as her manager and Sean Kristopher and Ashton Tyler as her producers.  With this fantastic opportunity, her first single “Its Right Here” was released independently peaking as number one on the world renowned Billboard charts.  With this success she was signed to a Five album deal with the major record label Universal over in the states, under KounrtyBoyz Production.  August 4th 2009, Tanika's debut album will be released digitally around the world.  Although Tanika will be leaving us soon to live in America, she is currently loving teaching at Razzle Dazzle (her second home).  She says with such amazing, talented and beautiful students to see each week, why wouldn't she?

 CARLIE LAMBERT-SMITH

Carlie was introduced to dance at the age of 2 after dancing around in her loungeroom to young talent time and has not stopped!  Beginning her dance studies at Johnny Young talent time, Carlie fell in love with all aspects of dance.  Studying Jazz, tap, R.A.D Ballet, contemporary, modern, competitive aerobics and Irish, Carlie has performed all over Australia, most popularily the 2007 Wiggles movie, as a ballerina on the catwalk of Alannah Hill's fashion show at Australian fashion week and in a music video for “The Screaming Jets”.

Continuing her studies at Westfield's Sports High school, studying dance and drama, she was in the top 5% for dance and received an invitation to perform her HSC dance at state level.  She later performed in the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony apart of the Irish group in the “Tin Symphony” section.

Loving to perform, she moved overseas to continue her career as a dancer.  Spending 5 months dancing in Taiwan at a theme park, Carlie set her sights on the U.S.A.  Moving to the U.S.A was daunting for the 18 year old but the best experience of her life!  From 2002 to 2008, Carlie performed nightly onboard many of Carnival Cruise Lines large fleet of cruise ships.  Traveling the Caribbean, Baja California, Bahamas, Belize and America, Carlie performed in the lavish Las Vegas style production shows while seeing the world and fulfilling her love of dance.  While overseas, Carlie taught at local dance schools and found her new passion, teaching!

When finally returning to land in 2008 with her Canadian husband in toe, she tried to start a regular life, and a regular job. But after a few months, she couldn't ignore that dance was still her life.  Carlie is thrilled to be imparting her love of dance and knowledge onto students and cant wait to start teaching the students of Razzle Dazzle and seeing them grow into performers!
